Although this is a personal ambition for us, it is also a pretty big challenge in anyone’s books. So we felt that we would be warranted in turning this into a fundraising adventure too.
We have chosen to support two charities that are important to us, one in England and one in New Zealand.
In England, our chosen charity is St Barnabas House hospice in Worthing, West Sussex. One of Val’s family members was given fantastic care by the Hospice, her sister Mary is a fundraising co-ordinator for them, and it is a charity that Val’s family has supported for many years.
In New Zealand we are fundraising for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer. Unfortunately, Leukaemia has been a factor in our lives in recent years as we have had a family member and a close friend diagnosed with the disease. It is, again, a charity that we have previously given a lot of support to as a family.
